Fishing is one of the most popular activities tourists indulge in Pahalgam. Tourists can avail permits from the Directorate of Fisheries, Tourist Reception Centre, Srinagar, and try their hand in fishing in the Lidder and Sheshnag streams, known for their trout. As a rule, an individual can catch a maximum of 6 fishes per day. The permit lasts for 3 days, which is charged on the basis of the number of rods an individual takes. April to September is a suitable time for fishing, as the weather is pleasant during that time.
